[GAME TITLE]

(Starting the editorial off with a promo video is ideal.)

This is where you’ll write a small introduction to the game you are reviewing. Use one, maybe two sentences to grab your readers’ attention.

Start with WHO:  this is where you will give a background of the developer (we are focused on promoting indie developers, so this part is essential). Tell us who they are, where they are from, when they started, if this is their first game or not, etc.

WHAT: Here is where you will give a “mini-review” of the game. In general, editorials should be focused on the positive side of the game to get readers excited about the game’s release. Start with the game’s genre (here is a list of genres you could use to choose from) and the game’s gameplay style (if you want to nerd out about the different types of gameplay, too, then go for it). Next, describe the game’s premise — a brief description of the story and characters involved in the game. You could mention the game’s graphics and sound quality here, too. Try to keep your editorial somewhere around 300-500 words. Any more or less isn’t recommended because you may lose your readers for lack of content or for having too much content.

Most importantly: you will want to tell your readers what you are most excited about in the game.

(Include a couple of gameplay graphics from the game that will give the reader an idea of what to expect)

WHERE: Where will this game be available? And on which consoles will the game be available? Where can readers find a playable demo (if one is available)? How can our readers access more information about the game and/or developer? Most of these little indie games that have yet to be released have Kickstarter campaigns or some other crowd-funding campaign happening — this is a great place to show your readers how they can support the game.

WHEN: And finally, when will the game be released? When will a demo be available? If there is a crowd-fund campaign happening, when will it launch/end?

And… that’s all there is to it!
