THE MOST RIDICULOUS INDIES WE COULD FIND
At MAG West this year, a couple of our Ravens shared some of the ridiculous indie games we’ve come across over the years. Some of these are new, and some are old. Either way, you can be sure they are unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Developer: Maximum Entertainment
Release Date: August 19th, 2024
Platforms: Steam, Epic Games, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5
Squirrel with a Gun is a nutty sandbox shooter and puzzle platformer featuring crime and mayhem in pursuit of golden acorns. Play as an obnoxious squirrel with a gun as you terrorize the neighborhood. Fight tooth and claw and gun to escape a secret underground facility and defeat evil agents. In this game, you’re able to upgrade your weapons and locate the other secret bunkers to take down elite bosses and even blow up a tank! In this sandbox adventure, you can explore the world by running around or cruising around in a toy car. And yes, you can even ask for nice pets from curious passersby. Helping people out in the neighborhood allows you to exchange things for goodies (or you can mug them). You can even unlock cosmetics to create your own personal squirrely style.
YOU SUCK AT PARKING
Developer: Happy Volcano
Release Date: Sep 14, 2022
Platforms: Steam, Switch, Xbox, PlayStation
You Suck at Parking is a racing game where driving isn’t the point. The real challenge is actually stopping. You’ll race the clock and drift, launch off ramps, and overshoot more parking spots than you’d ever admit. With over 250 levels, it’s the kind of game that’ll have you saying “okay, one more try” until suddenly it’s 2 a.m. The multiplayer mode in this game is the best part. If your friends make fun of your irl parking skills (looking at you, Seattle and California), now’s your chance to prove you’re not the menace they think you are. Friends Party mode supports up to 8 players, and it’s pure, chaotic fun—like Fall Guys but with cars and way more yelling. A Complete Edition is now available on Steam, and it includes the entire DLC and cosmetics, so if you’ve been waiting for a good excuse, here it is. If you like party games that don’t take themselves too seriously, You Suck at Parking is an easy win.
JUST CROW THINGS
Developer: Unbound Creations
Release Date: August 15th 2024
Platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch
Watch as a crow gets into mischief, like stealing items, leading a pack of goats, pooping on humans, and more mayhem in this delightfully mischievous indie. In Just Crow Things, you're a little crow trying to prove herself to the world. Make new animal friends, poop on unsuspecting hoomans, and steal all the shiny trinkets! Each level is a little sandbox full of fun items to discover and puzzles to solve, while leaving a bit of chaos behind. The simple cartoon style makes every moment feel lighthearted, even when you’re dropping poop bombs from above, and the mix of exploration and silliness keeps things fresh. You never know if the next shiny object will lead to a clever puzzle or just more trouble, and that’s half the fun. This game is a delightfully mischievous indie, and it’s the perfect outlet for anyone who’s ever wanted to be a relentless little crow.
