SCENE INVESTIGATORS

Can you figure out whodunit? Examine the scene, interpret the clues, and name the culprit in EQ Studios’ newest detective simulator, Scene Investigators.

Founded in 2006 as a freelance advertising firm, EQ Studios made the transition to video game development with their haunting 2017 debut, The Painscreek Killings. Now the nine-head team from Las Vegas is back with another photorealistic, first-person detective simulator. Grab your pipe and deerstalker and put your deductive reasoning skills to the test with Scene Investigators.

Scene Investigators showcases a string of unrelated crimes that not only challenge your ability to observe, but to infer.

Most mystery games hold your hand to a certain degree, but Scene Investigators takes a refreshingly different tack. As a detective-in-training, you are dropped blindly into the aftermath of a gruesome crime and asked to make deductions based solely on your surroundings. Top-notch graphics allow the player to make note of even the smallest details, but just like a real-world investigation, evidence can be misconstrued or overlooked altogether. A good detective leaves no stone unturned, so take the time to thoroughly examine every aspect of the scene. A keen eye is key to uncovering all the clues!

This scintillating exercise in rationale will be a real treat for armchair detectives.

If Scene Investigators is even half as engrossing as The Painscreek Killings was, I’ll be first in line to try my hand at this next stack of case files. The number of levels expected for the game’s final version is still unknown, but there is already talk of possible post-release DLCs. A free demo of the game is currently available while we wait for its premiere sometime in early 2023. You can also follow the studio’s blog for all the latest updates. I can’t wait to see what kind of morbid scenarios EQ Studios has cooked up!
